What Are Cookies?

Cookies and other similar technologies, such as local shared objects, flash cookies, or pixels, are tools used by web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, as well as to ensure the proper functioning of the site.

By using these devices, the web server can remember some data concerning the user, such as their preferences for viewing the pages of that server, username and password, products of interest, etc.

Cookies Affected by Regulations and Exempted Cookies

According to the EU directive, cookies that require informed consent from the user are analytics and advertising and affiliate cookies, with technical cookies and those necessary for the operation of the website or the provision of services explicitly requested by the user being exempt.

  • Third-party cookies: These are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a device or domain that is not managed by the publisher but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies.

  • Session cookies: These are designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website.
  • Persistent cookies: These are cookies in which the data is still stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a defined period by the cookie’s controller, which can range from a few minutes to several years.

  • Necessary cookies: These are essential for the proper functioning of the website. They do not collect any user data but gather information such as language preference and whether the cookie policy has been accepted, etc.
  • Analytics cookies: These, whether processed by us or by third parties, allow us to quantify the number of users and perform statistical analysis of the use made by users of the service offered. This analysis is done by tracking the user’s navigation on our website to improve the offering of products or services.
  • Advertising or marketing cookies: These allow the most efficient management of the advertising spaces that the publisher has included on a website, application, or platform from which the requested service is provided. The criteria used may include the content edited or the frequency of displaying ads.
  • Behavioral advertising or personalized marketing cookies: These allow the most efficient management of the advertising spaces that the publisher has included on a website, application, or platform from which the requested service is provided. These cookies store information about user behavior obtained through continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows the development of a specific profile to display advertising based on it. It is also possible that when visiting a website or opening an email containing an advertisement or promotion about our products or services, a cookie will be installed in your browser to later show you advertising related to the search you conducted, and to control our ads, including, for example, the number of times they are viewed, where they appear, and what time they are seen, etc.
